The History of Clumsy Love

1996

January, 1996

Our second van, which did not deserve a name, spills it's guts on the I-5 just south of Olympia, ending its reign of terror during which it cost us untold thousands. Van #3, the Balflower, takes over and has proven so far to be our finest vehicle by far (knock on wood).

March, 1996

We play at the Rock'n'Rage at Oregon State University in Corvalis, OR.

April, 1996

The Six Million Dollar Band plays Boise State's Spring Fling.

August, 1996

We play our second consecutive PalousaFest, this time as headliner. The Six Million Dollar Band plays it's final gigs, in Kelowna, B.C., before undergoing a major line-up change. The Clumsy Lovers (we've gone back to the old name as we're tired of apologizing for the change to angry fans) begin rehearsals with Jonat (still) on bass and Lewis on fiddle, Hughes back on accordion and vocals, and three newcomers: Chris Hamilton on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Trevor Rogers on guitar and vocals, and Cameron Jonat on drums.

September, 1996

The new line-up plays tune-up gigs at The Blarney Stone in Vancouver and The Seattle Peace Concerts.

November, 1996

The new line-up begins full-time gigging with a show at Steamer's in Victoria, BC. The Six Million Dollar Band is featured on "Go Tea", a compilation of top Vancouver bands. The Clumsy Lovers play at the release part at the Picadilly, in Vancouver.
