Installing the Software

When your connection is active you can install the software driver and network applications. We will start by installing the drivers for the TCP/IP and Novell connections:

  1. Click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  2. Double click on Control Panel. The Control Panel window will come up.
  3. Double click on Networks. A window listing the network drivers already installed will come up.
  4. Click the Add button, select Protocols, select Microsoft, and then select TCP/IP, Click OK.
  5. Click Add again, select Clients, select Microsoft, and then select Client for Novell Networks. Click OK.
  6. Select Client for Novell Networks from the list of installed drivers.
  7. Click the Properties button.
  8. Type in HICKORY in the Preferred Server field.
  9. Click OK in the Properties window, and Click OK to end.

At this time Windows 95 will install the network drivers and reboot the computer. It will ask for the installation disk, so follow the instructions on the screen. When Windows 95 boots up again it will prompt for a username and password to log into the Novell account. Fill in the information and click OK.
